This is the last post on the first game, a strong start to our showing in Monticello. The town rink has all the amenities you could want, except effective heating. Maybe this wasn't a good weekend to judge, since the weather outside was frightful. After the snow storm and frigid cold, some of us might have wished they had skipped the concessions stand or the shooting cage behind the rink or the ultra-fancy scoreboard for just a little central heat. It's not as bad as the 'haha rink, but it shouldn't be, since it's so much newer. They're just tough in Monticello, I guess. And they have a beautiful rink, just not warm.
Here are a last few photos from the first game.

Matthew celebrates a goal with Eric. I think it was Eric's goal. (It was Matthew's goal. Please see the comments.)
Here's the ultra-fancy scoreboard. What was more remarkable than the capability of displaying shots on goal was the fact that they actually used that feature. (Maybe other rinks do that too, and I've just missed it.) The final score was 7-2 in our favor, but this is where things stood half-way through the third period.
So the first game ended well, and lot of happy players and their families made their way back to Minnefield or Richopolis that night. But were they ready for the drive back to Monticello the next day?

That was my goal not eric's! Matthew
P.S. my first goal of the season
nice blog!
Sorry for my mistake, Matthew, and congrats on scoring this season. It's been really fun to watch you do that from the defense roles you usually play.
I'm glad you like the blog, too.
